Bringing out the best from the herb TM

Adutwumwaa Herbal Industries Limited started as Adutwumwaa Herbal Centre and has developed over the years to become the leader in herbal drug manufacturing and herbal healthcare delivery in Ghana.

The first product was introduced into the market in the year 1987, as Adutwumwaa Bitters, for the treatment of piles, fever, rheumatism, hypertension, waist and menstrual pains. At that time, traditional herbal medicine was not officially recognized in the country by the government and the public. Adutwumwaa Bitters was therefore sold from house to house, public offices and small shops. The drug not withstanding, enjoyed overwhelming patronage. Consumers upon realizing its efficacy, served as advertising spring boards for the product.

Adutwumwaa Bitters was then tested in the year 1990 by the Department of Pharmacology of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (K.N.U.S.T) and approved to be sold to the general public because of its high efficacy, with no profound side effect.

Later, the government of Ghana officially accepted Traditional Herbal Medicine as alternative medicine, established the Centre for Scientific Research into plant medicine at Akwapem-Mampong which is a World Health Organization (WHO) ccollaborating centre for the testing and regulation of Traditional Herbal Medicine in West Africa. Adutwumwaa Bitters was then tested and approved by the Centre to be appropriate for human use with a very high recommendation on its efficacy.

Finally, the Food and Drugs Board of Ghana approved the drug to be wholesome for human consumption. The drug was then allowed to be sold in pharmacy shops, drug stores and herbal shops throughout the country.

The Adutwumwaa Herbal Industries Limited presently has four products on the market namely:

-Adutwumwaa Bitters, Adutwumwaa Capsules, Adutwumuwaa Tonic and Adutwumwaa Malamix, all tested and approved by the Food and Drugs Ghana, the Centre for Scientific Research into Plant Medicine and the Department of Pharmacology of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
